1. Overview & Applications
The NMK series modular slip-ring motors are engineered for heavy-load inertia applications. These motors are the ideal solution for scenarios requiring high starting torque and low starting current, such as mill drives, or in environments with weak network conditions.
By minimizing mechanical stress during startup, NMK slip-ring motors significantly extend the service life of driven equipment. They provide maximized availability and high torque across the entire speed range.

2. Technical Features & Customization
NMK slip-ring motors are available in shaft heights ranging from 400 to 710 mm, with standard cooling and protection combinations of IC611/IP55 and IC81W/IP55. The series is rated for up to 10,000 kW.
- Robust Construction: Features a welded steel frame for superior durability.
- Slip Ring Unit (SRU): Available with permanent contact brushes or brush lifting gear. The SRU is enclosed in a dedicated housing at the N-end, separated from the main motor frame.
- Liquid Resistance Starter (LRS): Available upon request.
- Custom Configurations: While standard catalogs typically highlight 6kV and 11kV (50Hz) for 4, 6, and 8-pole motors, our complete product scope covers 60Hz, pole numbers up to 16, and voltage ratings up to 13.8kV.

3. Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting arrangements for NMK motors include:
- Code I: IM B3 (Horizontal foot mounted)
- Code II: IM 1001
- Other mounting configurations (e.g., IM1002) are available upon request.
4. Enclosure and Cooling Systems
Standard combinations include IC611/IP55 and IC81W/IP55. Other cooling methods (IC616, IC86W, etc.) are available on request.
- IC611/IP55 (Air-to-Air): Features a fully enclosed air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted both inside the motor frame/slip ring housing and outside the casing to supply independent internal and external cooling circuits. Provides full protection against dust and splashing water from any direction.
- IC81W/IP55 (Air-to-Water): A totally enclosed design utilizing machine-mounted and SRU housing-mounted air-to-water heat exchangers. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit, ensuring optimal thermal management while maintaining IP55 protection against dust and water.
5. Packaging
- Standard Export Packaging: Plywood or wooden fumigation-free packages.
- Durability: Designed to be fully seaworthy and suitable for long-distance transportation by sea or land.
