Modular Induction Motors — AMI Series
High Reliability and Availability
AMI engineered modular induction motors deliver exceptional reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding applications. Built on the motor industry's most successful modular platform, they are tailor-made to meet the specific needs of each customer and application — matching a broad variety of requirements while offering the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations.
AMI modular induction motors comply with all relevant international standards. Versions are available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation.
The AMI motors feature a welded steel frame and are available with the following standard cooling and protection combinations:
- IC01 / IP24W
- IC611 / IP55
- IC81W / IP55
- Standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm. Motors can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
Output powers covered in this catalog reach up to 8,000 kW, while the complete range extends up to 23,000 kW.

Enclosure and Cooling
IC01 / IP24 — Weather-Protected Ventilation
This weather-protected motor features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The motor design reduces the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into the electrical components. On the air intake path, this is achieved by ensuring the average air velocity does not exceed 3 m/s, allowing heavier particles to settle out. The air intake path includes three acute direction changes exceeding 90 degrees to further reduce flow rate to the optimal level. The motor is protected against splashing water from any direction.
IC611 / IP55 — Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger
This fully enclosed design incorporates an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are fitted on both the inside and outside of the casing to supply the internal and external cooling circuits respectively. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC81W / IP55 — Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger
This fully enclosed motor is fitted with an air-to-water heat exchanger. A shaft-mounted fan is installed inside the casing to supply the internal cooling circuit. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC31 / IP55 — Remote Cooling Air
This version is fitted with inlet and outlet ducts for remote cooling air supply. Essentially, this is the AMI motor frame without an upper cover. The motor is protected against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC01 — Asymmetric Internal Air Circulation
Available with asymmetric inside air circulation for optimized cooling performance.
