1. Overview of AMI Modular Induction Motors
AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver high reliability and availability in the toughest and most demanding industrial applications. Tailor-made to meet specific customer needs, these motors are built on the industry's most successful modular platform, offering the flexibility to be adapted to highly specific configurations while complying with all relevant international standards.
Available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation, AMI motors feature a robust welded steel frame. Standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm, with horizontal or vertical mounting options. While technical data is typically referenced at 50 Hz, these motors operate efficiently at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3600 rpm. Output powers covered in this catalog reach up to 8,000 kW, with the complete range extending up to 23,000 kW.
2. Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting configurations are provided to suit various installation requirements:
- IM B3 (Code II: IM 1001): Horizontal foot-mounted.
- IM V1 (Code II: IM 4011): Vertical flange-mounted (free shaft end facing downwards).
- Note: Other custom mounting arrangements are available upon request.
- 3. Enclosure and Cooling Systems
AMI motors are available with multiple standard cooling methods and protection types to ensure optimal performance in diverse environments: - IC01 / IP24 (Weather Protected): Features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The air intake path is designed with three acute direction changes (>90 degrees) and an average velocity not exceeding 3 m/s, allowing heavier particles to settle and protecting against splashing water from any direction.
- IC611 / IP55 (Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger): A fully enclosed design with an air-to-air heat exchanger. Shaft-mounted fans supply both internal and external cooling circuits, providing complete protection against dust and splashing water.
- IC81W / IP55 (Air-to-Water Heat Exchanger): A fully enclosed motor utilizing an air-to-water heat exchanger. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit, ensuring dust and water protection.
- IC31 / IP55 (Remote Cooling Air): Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air. Essentially the AMI motor frame without an upper cover, maintaining full protection against dust and splashing water.
- IC01 Asymmetric: Features asymmetric inside air circulation for specialized cooling requirements.
- 4. Packaging & Logistics
All motors are packed in standard seaworthy export packaging, utilizing either plywood or wooden fumigation packages. This ensures the equipment is fully protected and suitable for long-distance transportation by sea or land. - 5. Warranty & After-Sales Support
