1. Product Overview
AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver exceptional reliability and availability for the toughest and most demanding applications. Built upon the industry's most successful modular platform, these motors are highly flexible and can be tailor-made to meet specific customer needs and unique application requirements.
The AMI series complies with all relevant international standards and is available in versions suitable for both Direct-On-Line (DOL) and Variable Speed Drive (VSD) operation. Featuring a robust welded steel frame, these motors support standard cooling methods (IC01/IP24W, IC611/IP55, IC81W/IP55) and are available in standard shaft heights from 400 to 630 mm, with options for horizontal or vertical mounting.
While this catalog details technical data at 50 Hz, AMI motors operate efficiently at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with synchronous speeds ranging from 500 to 3600 rpm. The catalog covers output powers up to 8,000 kW, with the complete range extending up to 23,000 kW.
2. Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting arrangements for AMI motors include (others available upon request):
- Code I: IM B3 (Code II: IM 1001): Horizontal foot mounted.
- Code I: IM V1 (Code II: IM 4011): Vertical flange mounted (free shaft end facing downwards).
3. Enclosure and Cooling
IC01 / IP24 — Weather Protected
This design features an internal shaft-mounted cooling fan. The motor housing is engineered to minimize the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles into the electrical components. The air intake path maintains an average velocity not exceeding 3 m/s to allow heavier particles to settle, and includes three acute direction changes (exceeding 90 degrees) to optimize airflow reduction. Provides protection against splashing water from any direction.
IC611 / IP55 — Air-to-Air Cooled
A fully enclosed design featuring an air-to-air heat exchanger mounted on the motor. Shaft-mounted fans are installed both inside and outside the casing to drive the respective internal and external cooling circuits. Provides protection against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC81W / IP55 — Air-to-Water Cooled
This fully enclosed motor is equipped with an air-to-water heat exchanger. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit. Provides protection against dust and splashing water from any direction.
IC31 / IP55 — Remote Cooling (Ducted)
Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes to utilize remote cooling air. This configuration essentially consists of the AMI motor frame without an upper cover. Provides protection against dust and splashing water from any direction.
4. Packaging
- Standard seaworthy packaging designed for export.

5. Warranty Period
