1. Overview of AMI Modular Induction Motors
The AMI engineered modular induction motors are designed to deliver exceptional reliability and availability, even in the most demanding and toughest industrial applications. Built upon the industry's most successful modular platform, these motors are tailor-made to meet specific customer needs and application requirements. They offer the flexibility to be adapted into highly specific configurations while complying with all relevant international standards.
Available for both direct-on-line (DOL) and variable speed drive (VSD) operation, AMI motors feature a robust welded steel frame. Standard shaft heights range from 400 to 630 mm, with options for horizontal or vertical mounting. While standard catalogs typically highlight 50 Hz technical data, these motors are fully operational at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz, providing synchronous speeds from 500 to 3600 rpm. Output powers covered in this series reach up to 8,000 kW, with the complete range extending up to 23,000 kW.
2. Mounting Arrangements
Standard mounting configurations are provided to suit various installation needs, with custom options available upon request:
- IM B3 (Code II: IM 1001): Horizontal foot-mounted.
- IM V1 (Code II: IM 4011): Vertical flange-mounted (free shaft end facing downwards).
- 3. Enclosure and Cooling Systems
AMI motors are available with multiple standard cooling methods and protection types to ensure optimal performance in different environments: - IC01 / IP24 (Weather Protected): Features a shaft-mounted cooling fan inside the housing. The air intake path is engineered with three acute direction changes (exceeding 90 degrees) and an average velocity not exceeding 3 m/s. This design allows heavier particles to settle, effectively reducing the ingress of rain, snow, and airborne particles while protecting against splashing water from any direction.
- IC611 / IP55 (Air-to-Air Cooled): A fully enclosed design equipped with an air-to-air heat exchanger. Shaft-mounted fans are installed both inside and outside the casing to supply independent cooling circuits. This configuration provides complete protection against dust and splashing water.
- IC81W / IP55 (Air-to-Water Cooled): A fully enclosed motor utilizing an air-to-water heat exchanger. An internal shaft-mounted fan supplies the internal cooling circuit, offering robust protection against dust and splashing water.
- IC31 / IP55 (Remote Air Cooled): Fitted with inlet and outlet pipes for remote cooling air. This version essentially consists of the AMI motor frame without an upper cover, maintaining IP55 protection against dust and splashing water.
- IC01 Asymmetric: Features IC01 cooling with an asymmetric inside air circulation design for specialized thermal management.
- 4. Packaging and Transportation
To ensure safe transit, all motors are shipped in standard seaworthy packages suitable for long-distance transportation by sea or land. Packaging options include plywood cases or wooden fumigation packages. - 5. Warranty Policy
