1. AXR Series Rib Cooled Motors

The AXR series represents the latest generation of multi-purpose rib-cooled electric motors, delivering high power density, flexible configuration options and convenient maintenance. It is built upon decades of accumulated experience in electric motor manufacturing.

This series sets a new industry benchmark. AXR rib-cooled motors achieve higher power output per kilogram compared with traditional rib cooled motor designs. Thanks to excellent power density, users can often select one smaller frame size for the same required output power, which reduces footprint and enables more compact equipment layout.

AXR motors conform to major industrial standards including API 541 and Shell DEP, as well as customized customer specifications. The motor adopts a robust cast iron frame. IC411 cooling system and IP55 protection class are supplied as standard configurations. IC416 cooling and IP66 protection are available as optional selections, and the IP66 rating has been validated by an authoritative independent testing institute.

The AXR motor power range extends up to 1800kW, with shaft heights covering 315mm to 710mm. Both horizontal and vertical mounting styles are supported. This catalog covers technical parameters under 50Hz and 60Hz power supply conditions, with synchronous speed ranging from 500 rpm to 3600 rpm.

2. Mounting Arrangements for AXR Motors

• IM B3 (IM 1001): Standard floor mounting, horizontal foot-mounted design with feet facing downward.
• IM V1 (IM 4011): Flange mounting, vertical installation, flange and free shaft end pointing downward, solid shaft type.
• IM B35 (IM 2001): Combined foot-and-flange horizontal mounting. The flange is integrated into the end shield, equipped with one cylindrical shaft extension and downward feet.

3. Enclosure & Cooling Features

IC411 / IP55

AXR IC411 motors adopt a shaft-mounted external fan, utilizing ambient air for heat dissipation. IP55 enclosure protects the motor against dust ingress and water jet impact from all directions.

IC416 / IP55

IC416 cooling configuration uses an independent auxiliary fan motor to supply cooling airflow. This design is ideal for low-speed operating scenarios, especially when the motor runs with variable speed drives.

IP55 Protection Definition

• Dust protection: Limited dust may enter the enclosure, but the dust volume will not interfere with normal motor operation.
• Water protection: Water jets sprayed from any direction via nozzle will not cause harmful damage to the motor.

IP66 Protection Definition

• Dust protection: Totally dust-tight enclosure.
• Water protection: Powerful water jets from any direction (12.5mm nozzle) will not damage the motor.

IC411 Cooling Principle

Frame surface cooling design: Coolant circulates inside the motor in a closed loop. Heat transfers through the stator core and other thermally conductive components to the motor outer ribbed surface, then dissipates to ambient air. The ribbed surface enhances heat exchange efficiency.
Self-circulation cooling: Coolant flow is driven by the main motor rotation. The driving force can come from the rotor itself, a dedicated component fitted on the rotor, or a fan/pump assembly mechanically coupled to the main motor rotor.

4. Packaging

Standard export seaworthy package. Options include plywood case or fumigated wooden case, suitable for long-distance sea and land transportation.

5. Warranty

Standard warranty term: 12 months from commissioning date, or 18 months after goods delivery, whichever comes first. Extended warranty service is available upon request. Please contact our sales team for further information.
