1. Overview: Rib Cooled Motors (Type AXR)

The latest generation of multipurpose rib-cooled motors, the AXR series, offers high power density, easy configurability, and built-in serviceability. These motors incorporate years of manufacturing experience to set a new industry benchmark.

• Compact Design: High power density means you can often use a motor one frame size smaller than conventional products, saving space and enabling compact installations.
• Rugged Build: The motors feature a sturdy cast iron frame suitable for harsh industrial environments.
• Standard Compliance: AXR motors comply with main industry standards such as API 541 and Shell DEP, as well as specific customer requirements.
• Performance Range: Available in shaft heights from 315 to 500 mm, covering outputs up to 1,800 kW. Technical data is available for 50 Hz and 60 Hz, with synchronous speeds from 500 to 3600 rpm.

2. Mounting Arrangements

Standard mounting configurations for AXR motors include:

• Code I: IM B3 (Code II: IM 1001): Standard floor mounting with feet facing downwards (horizontal foot mounted).
• Code I: IM V1 (Code II: IM 4011): Flange and free shaft end facing downwards (vertical solid shaft, flange mounted).
• Code I: IM B35 (Code II: IM 2001): Foot-and-flange mounted horizontal configuration with the flange part of the end-shield, featuring one cylindrical shaft extension and feet facing downwards.

3. Enclosure and Cooling

Standard Combinations

• IC411 / IP55: Features an external shaft-mounted fan using surrounding air for cooling. The motor is protected against dust and water jets.
• IC416 / IP55: Available for low-speed applications (especially when fed via a variable speed drive). An additional motor drives the cooling fan to ensure required cooling.

• Frame Surface Cooled: Primary coolant circulates in a closed circuit, transferring heat through the external surface (ribs) to the surrounding medium.
• Self Circulation: Coolant movement depends on the rotational speed of the main motor, driven by a component mounted directly on the rotor.

4. Packaging

• Standard: Seaworthy package for export.
• Material: Plywood package or wooden fumigation package.
• Suitability: Designed for long-distance transportation by sea or land.

5. Warranty Period

• Standard Warranty: 12 months after commissioning, or 18 months after delivery, whichever comes first.
